Introducing Sam Christie a young and promising Maltese musician who’s just released his latest track titled Don’t Fall Asleep.
Would you like to tell us about your latest release?
“So the song itself is quite an old song that I released as a single a few years back , and it’s a song about losing friends to suicide and drugs and losing yourself along the way and not really knowing what to do, the video came around when I met Kenneth Cassar and Cheryl Lofreda who told me that they had some ideas for the video.”
“I listened to their ideas and was super excited to start working with them, we shot most of the scenes at Ghajn Tuffieha, Hole In The Wall Pub in Sliema and Bienne-Switzerland. it’s been an amazing experience working with these guys and I can’t thank them enough.”
Sam started out playing in many different bands before deciding to go solo, telling us he finds inspiration for his writing from 60s style folk songs which he gives a modern twist too. He draws his main influences from Nick Drake, Elliot-Smith and Bob Dylan. Something that can be clearly heard in Don’t Fall Asleep.
His first album “Meet Me At Spoons”was released on the 29th of July 2018 after recording with Chris Vella who also produced the album and other EPs before that.
You can catch Sam live at Storeroom, Ta Xbiex on 3rd March.
