The Peaky Barbers – let the razors do the talking.
UGS were informed a while back that Franz of Caine Tattoos had plans to open up a barbershop.
Franz is not one to follow trends, so of course he had to put his twist on the barbershop/tattoo studio combo by opening up a stone’s throw away down the street in Msida.
Thus Peaky Barbers is born as his second creative venture as a part of Caine Collective. There is of course more to come from Franz but you will have to wait and see, we can however safely say that the path is paved in black and gold.
We took the opportunity to pass by for the official opening of Peaky Barbers who’s name we are told is inspired by the popular BBC TV show Peaky Blinders.
As we enter, our attention is taken to the massive logo that’s been sprayed along the back wall. We are definitely in the right place.
I exchange fist bumps with Eddie Fresco who’s behind the counter and I greet Franz with a congrats.
My first question is about the elephant in the room - the art on the wall. I ask, “is that the work of The Mister Pink?” which of course it is. I can recognize his style a mile off.
I take a good luck around the shop and I can see the amount of effort that’s gone into it.
Just like the cuts and shaves offered here it’s clean, sharp and intricate
The shop we are told has been empty for the past few years, so I can only imagine the amount of work that has gone into it to get it to its current state.
This is just the beginning.
Franz is a perfectionist and won’t stop until it’s up to his high standards and more. Ah, ze Germans.
While we wait and chat, we notice a lot of people coming to check out the new kid on the block – most leaving with appointments. Word is getting around.
What would a visit be without jumping in the chair for a cut Peaky style. Our graphic designer and UGS DJ Santi take’s up the opportunity, after all he is new to the island and is lost in the nightlife and needs to impress the eye candy.
What more can we say? It’s the height of summer, parties are in abundance.
Head down to The Peaky Barbers to set you up for the weekend. Fix up, look sharp!
