Sunset Malta: there are few things on this earth as idyllic. Read below for today’s sunset time along with 6 pristine locations to enjoy from.
Sunset Malta today: sunrise & sunset time
Some of my fondest memories come from a simple act — watching the sun descent into the sea from the Maltese isles.
Grab some friends and some preferred snacks and drinks. Sit back. Enjoy the show.
1. Valletta

This European capital is something to behold. Compact in size, adventuring around on foot is always an enjoyable and leisurely traverse. With its prominence, we’ve got 2 sunset spots for you to choose from.
The Embassy Hotel
There is a hotel on Strait Street that looks a bit swanky. It is next to the sushi restaurant AKI. Enter the hotel and then hitch a ride on the elevator for one of the best rooftops in Malta. The prices are reasonable for a nice hotel with a rooftop pool and everything.
You should go for sunset drinks. Bring good friends. Ask for the Greek waiter, he is a blast.
Ġnien Hastings (Hastings Garden)
My personal favorite sunset spot in Valletta. Now, Hastings Garden has become popular for this but for this exact position you should be away from the throng. If you go to the bar (creatively named Bar in Park) and head a few steps west to the battlements, you’ll be overlooking the entire island.
Stay for a few minutes or a few hours. Enjoy the planes coming and going, and the inevitable fireworks display. Life is good.
2. Għajn Tuffieħa

Għajn Tuffieħa (pronounced ayn tooffeeha, also referred to as Riviera) has a special place in our heart. Considered one of the best beaches in Europe, it’s about the energy of the people that go, the sunsets and the memories that are made. The connection created with someone during a late summer sunset at Għajn Tuffieħa is golden.
Late summer specifically, because of the ever-expanding Maltese tourism. It’s best to avoid this place at noon during the peak season (July or August).
3. Nine Lives
Nine Lives is a beach bar overlooking the bay and St. Paul’s Island. Facing west, they experience mad sunsets here. Add to the fact they have nice events in the summer, you can consider this a less snobby alternative to the overpriced and overhyped Café del Mar.
Don’t go by car in the summer, you will struggle with parking — it’s best to take a cab anyway so you can take partake in that bottle of prosecco your friends are getting.
4. Sanap Cliffs
Looking for a higher form of tranquility? Are you willing to travel by ferry and through the hills of an ancient land? Looking for the bluest water you’ve ever seen?
If yes, Gozo is the answer to all these questions. Particularly on the south of the island where you can hike and sit along the Sanap Cliffs for a fine sunset Malta.
5. Dingli Cliffs
Along the Dingli Cliffs you can nab a perfect spot as the sun melts into the sea. If you really want to do it properly, bring a few chairs, a small table and some snacks. A bottle or wine or a few beers will do. This spot in particular seals the deal for epic sunsets, especially in the summer.

6. Little Armier Beach
Little Armier is a great little beach that beats Mellieħa Bay by a long shot. Generally, you can find a spot in the sand. Go to Tortuga Bay for lunch and then stick around to watch the sun go down with a view of Comino.
