What then ensued was an angry rant aimed towards the employee who is seen trying to calm the situation. However, after being asked to calm down the employee mistakenly called her sir again which only stoked the flames of anger. Tiffany aka Saratonin admits to us that she’s using the newly found fame to launch a rap career and shine a light on trans empowerment issues.
Tell us about yourself?
I am a 40-year-old trans empowerment activist, a full-time single mother, and a professional musician. Hate and bigotry have given me a national platform for the betterment of the trans community.
How did you deal with the sudden fame? brought on by Memes
I wrote a song and filmed a video and used the negativity to fuel my music career.
Politicized by the left and right
Are you using your fame in a positive way?
Absolutely! As I said before, I’m one of the more recognizable trans activists these days, and my lyrics are all relevant in today’s political climate. My people are being politicized on both the left and the right as if we were a piece of legislation, so I use my voice so it can be heard,
How do you feel about the video that has now made you famous? Would you have approached it in a different way given hindsight?
Absolutely not! I would do it the same a million times over again. Cis folk have too much of a habit of dismissing trans issues, such as retail sensitivity training, as non-consequential or in some cases, they just don’t care because trans issues are not their issues. People of the trans experience need to speak out against things like malicious misgendering.
Transgenderism wasn’t even a concept
The use of Sir and Madam has been going on for centuries do you believe that people just need to get used to all the changes on gender issues that have only started to make a big impact only over the past few years?
People need to realize that no one is the same as the next person, even identical twins are not the same, so expecting to force somebody to be the same as you is asinine at best. We need to move away from these ancient and archaic ways that have been proven to be problematic and violent to some extent and make room for progress. I love that I live in a time where my 11-year-old kid can come out to me as non-binary! When I was 11, transgender wasn’t even a concept,
Have you spoken to the shop assistant that took the brunt of your anger since the incident?
No, and don’t care to. The dude did what he set out to do, and GameStop publicly backed him. It’s my hope that he develops massive hemorrhoids and carries that with him for the rest of his life.
Are you still misgendered now after the viral video?
Go to my Facebook page and have a gander at any public post I’ve made in the past six months at least several hundred trolls follow my every move and try to troll my public posts. Although, I have an army of SJWs ready to go to war for me and the trolls get embarrassed. They have absolutely no backbone and fold like origami when presented with facts and sources cited.
Using it’s Ma’am fame to launch a Music Career
Are you using your fame to propel your music career?
Absolutely! My album “stir the pot” drops on October 17th and at this point, it’s pretty highly anticipated!
How long have you been an emcee?
Going on for 28 years now. I was a somewhat known contributor to independent hip hop before my transition.
Who do you look up to in the rap game?
I’ve got mad respect for the Demigodz Apathy is a brilliant dude and the way he monetized his hustle is nothing short of amazing! of course the originators like juice crew and Large Professor, but most of all, it’s the ladies. MC Lyte is the GOAT, well her and Queen Bahamadia.
Any dream collabs?
Any of the above would be dope, unfortunately, though it’s probably not in the stars because who’s going to feature a trans girl MC, right? Times are changing but I don’t hold these artists in the same esteem I held them when I was pretending to be a guy.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In the same place, just living more comfortably, but chances are I get assassinated shortly after my record drops. The Christian right has assured me of as much lol.
