Insane Shrek Rave Promises a Night of Absurdity and All Things Ogre

Yes, you read right. A UK-based Shrek-inspired rave series is working its way around Europe, to transform ravers into magical fairy-tale creatures with the help of endless DJs and unlicensed Shrek characters.

Welcome to the Shrek Rave swamp

Do you ever find yourself missing the early 2000’s nostalgia of when Shrek was everywhere?

In that case, Like It Love It Events have planned the most ridiculous night out for you and your swamp squad.

Dress up like your favorite character (we’re calling dibs on the blind mice) and hit the dance floor at Shrek Rave, bopping out to Shrek’s soundtrack. Or take to the games area and indulge yourself in “onion eating competitions” or “far, far away Idol contests” joining in dance-offs and drag-esque shenanigans (with prizes to be won).

If you’re more for the festival experience of it all, they’ve got you covered. Think light shows and psychedelic Shrek-inspired visuals and a fully-themed bar with multiple Shrek cocktails and other themed drinks. I’ve got my eye on their green swampy concoction they call “Swamp Juice”.

Do the roar

From Lord Farquaad dry-humping the Ugly Stepsister (as seen here), to Fiona twerking in front of hundreds of dancing Shrek’s, the levels of insanity at these events are off the charts.

Shrek Rave brings actual West End theater performers to their stages dressed as Shrek characters, to sing the soundtrack we all know and love to the dancefloor. They’re also bringing in the UK’s top DJs and performers to get everyone grooving along to our favorite classic hits-  All Star by Smash Mouth, Funky Town by Lipps Inc and I’m On My Way by The Proclaimers being among them.

Where can you find Shrek Rave?

Shrek Rave is making it their mission to get around all of Europe. Antwerp, Oslo, Prague, Trondheim, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Krakow, Helsinki, and Bucharest are all on their upcoming tour dates.

And with ticket prices starting from €12.50, who wouldn’t want to show up at one of these raves?

Other events

At this point, you may be sick of Shrek. Not to worry! The organizers have a range of other events – one in particular grabs our attention – The Brunch Club.

Happening on Sundays at mid-day, you can fill up on brunch, cocktails and fantastically themed drag shows all around the UK.
