Kabaka Pyramid, hip hop lyricism & reggae energy
Kingston-born reggae star, Kabaka Pyramid, has a distinctive musical style that combines the lyricism of hip-hop with the energy and melody of reggae. Through his liquid and hypnotic music, Kabaka expresses the uplifting message of spirituality and conscious evolution.
As a crucial figure in the current Reggae Revival movement, Kabaka Pyramid broke into the Jamaican reggae scene with Rebel Music back in 2011 with hit songs like ‘Free from Chains’ and ‘Warrior’ featuring Protoje.
His lyrical style and hard-hitting beats made his hip-hop roots transparent, setting the tone for an ever-expanding career that has so far included features for Chase and Status, and Rudimental, which eventually led to his Grammy-winning album ‘The Kalling’.
Masterful symphony of contemporary reggae
‘The Kalling’, is a masterful symphony of contemporary reggae, that speaks to the listener on the most profound levels and makes a significant statement about the development of Kabaka’s art
The fifteen-track masterpiece which was produced by Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, includes a number of his long-time collaborators, like Damian Marley, Protoje, Black Am I, and Jesse Royal, as well as new collaborators including Buju Banton and Stephen Marley.
“The Kalling is really about my journey in music being for a higher purpose, not just to get rich or popular, but to inspire a higher vibration in whoever listens. While the majority seek pleasure and sense gratification, there are a few who the Most High kall upon to keep the balance inna earth. Music is what I use to answer the kall and you can feel it throughout this album”.
