Fliptrix releases SM58 from the much anticipated new album ‘Mantra No. 9’ set to drop next month.
SM58 sheds the more experimental layers and returns to a place of classic, foundational sound. This represents a growth in Fliptrix’s solo offerings. Given the sonic arc of the first four singles lifted from the album, ‘SM58’ feels like something of a curveball.
SM58 is a distinct change
SM58 features fellow High Focus label mates, Onoe Caponoe and Ramson Badbonez. The single reflects a distinct change in pace and fluctuation in mood. It channels a new set of energies that have (up to now) gone in a different direction.
Fliptrix knew’SM58’ was going to do what he hoped it would after performing it for the first time (at the same live show featured in the official video). With Onoe Caponoe and Ramson Badbonez in attendance; the crowd responded with insane energy to every verse. The same energy that Wundrop has perfectly captured, in the minimalist, low-frequency production that sees the track expertly traverse the ultra-fine line between orthodox and unorthodox.
Who is Fliptrix?
Fliptrix is a London-based lyricist who’s had an effect the UK scene from an early age. His tracks are eye opening and fresh. We see this in his solo offerings and as one-quarter of the British hip hop group The Four Owls, and founding member of High Focus Records.
Fliptrix’s journey that he’s embarked on has taken him to every corner of the globe. It has seen him collaborate with a near-endless list of like-minded producers and lyricists. Moreover, he’s helped launch the careers of countless artists who have shared the vision of the High Focus movement since its conception back in 2010.
Twelve years on and High Focus Records continues to flourish, surpassing 250,000,000 views (and counting) on YouTube, and having contributed eight solo LPs and three Owls LPs.

Fliptrix returns to the UK for the ‘Mantra No. 9’ Headline Tour this February / March with shows in Manchester, Bournemouth, Brighton, Bristol & London.
