The Aussie BBQ showcases emerging talent from the Australian music scene. Making part of the SummerStage event lineup in New York City, it is set to bring over some fire on Saturday 15 June.
Starting at 4pm, this free event will showcase a lineup of upcoming artists at a picturesque outdoor setting in Central Park, New York City, and who knows, maybe you’ll find your new favorite artist.
The Aussie BBQ: a celebration of Australian music
The Aussie BBQ SummerStage will feature diverse acts, from established names to up-and-coming talent. Headlining the event are rock legends Jebediah with their Aussie punk sound. Joining them are Northeast Party House, Last Dinosaurs, Sycco, Thelma Plum, and Sheppard who are each bringing their unique style to the stage.
How it will all go down
Quick! Grab a couple of friends, a blanket, and a basket full of food, it’s June 15! Sike, not yet, but be prepared for this Aussie rock & punk lineup.
The first artist will be Thelma Plum. The Gomeroi musician is all about personal experiences which are all shared in her lyrics. Next is Sheppard, a band making hits on TikTok lately with their hit song, ‘Geronimo’. They will also be representing Australia in the 2024 Eurovision with their song ‘Edge of the Earth’, (lucky for us if they win, it’s a free concert!).
Did you think that was all? The list is not finished yet! At 6:40 pm, Jebediah will be making their comeback with their latest album released after 13 years, and right after, Sycco with her Flume produced single, ‘Ripple’. In the aftermath of sunset time, Last Dinosaurs will showcase their indie-style music which will pair great with a cocktail and funky dance moves.
Best left for last, head to the northeast for a Northeast Party House to end the night with some beloved Melbourne electronic dance beats.
If you’re only set to see one artist on the list, we’ve got a breakdown of the showcase times for you to keep in mind:

- 4:30PM Opening Cultural Ceremony
- 5:00PM Thelma Plum
- 5:50PM Sheppard
- 6:40PM Jebediah

- 8:20PM Last Dinosaurs
- 9:10PM Northeast Party House
Party from May to October
If you can’t make it on June 15 for the Aussie BBQ event, no need to swear at the kangaroos. The 2024 SummerStage is scheduled to take over with different international lines up in Central Park. From May 17, James Arthur will take over the stage alongside different artists on various dates spread through October.
The SummerStage lineup will feature Arooj Aftab, Femi the Scorpion, Alcione, Jungle Brothers, Fenne Lily amongst many more. You can find more information on the Central Park website.
Honoring culture
Sounds Australia’s Digital Export Producer, Dom Alessio, revealed to Underground Sound that an essential part of the event is the open culture ceremony, performed by the Lanape, the original native people of New York.
He expressed hope for this tradition to continue, stating, “Every year we invite the Lanape to open the show with a cultural ceremony, which has always been a very special moment and we hope that can happen again this year.”
6 years of The Aussie BBQ
The Aussie BBQ began in 2018 and has become a beloved tradition hosting the new generation of Australian talent. Previous artists who have taken over Central Park are Amy Shark, Baker Boy, Budjerah, G Flip, Haiku Hands, and more.
If you’ve never attended the event, prep with, the Aussie BBQ Spotify playlist filled with songs from this year’s lineup.
