As the rest of the world packs up their festival gear and heads back to reality, Cyprus is like, “Nah, we’re good.” Summer here stretches from mid-April to October, and we’re not about to let something like a calendar dictate when the party stops.
Located at the crossroads of three continents – Europe, Asia, and Africa – Cyprus is a small island with a big personality. Known for being the last divided capital, my small island is a melting pot of cultures, cuisines, and creativity. Amazing food, lively people, and great beaches are just the beginning. Cyprus has also been a party destination and a hub for artistic expression.
Leave the soul crushing job behind
If you’re tired of watching DJ sets on YouTube while stuck at your desk or feeling trapped in a soul-crushing job, consider breaking free and joining us in Cyprus. September is a great time to experience the island’s vibrant music scene, with a range of events taking place throughout the month.
Indira Paganotto will perform at Guaba Beach Bar on September 1st, followed by Honest Electronics, an underground collective and record label in Cyprus, from September 7-9. The highlight of the month though is the long-awaited Beonix Festival, which will take place from September 20-22. This year’s lineup is particularly impressive, featuring international legends like Fatboy Slim and Tale of Us, alongside fresh and local talent.
Beonix Festival the new kid on the block
Beonix Festival may be a newcomer on Cyprus’s electronic music scene, but it’s already shaking things up with its diverse and thrilling programming. In a bold move, the festival is also giving back to the community by hosting a DJ competition and providing a stage for young artists to showcase their skills. After all, someone has to carry the torch for the next generation of electronic music lovers.
The Garden Stage by Highjacks is where you’ll find the freshest talent in electronic music, handpicked from a DJ competition that showcases the best of the best. These up-and-coming DJs will be spinning their hearts out, and you can bet you’ll discover some new favorite artists. But what’s even more exciting is that they’ll also be receiving mentoring lessons to help them take their skills to the next level. Who knows? You might even spot the next big thing before they blow up.
Photographers and volunteers, rejoice
If you’re a photographer based in Cyprus, you’re in luck! Beonix Festival is still accepting applications for photographers until September 1st, 2024. So, dust off your camera and get ready to capture some of the festival’s best moments. And, if you’re looking for a way to get involved and gain some experience, consider volunteering for the festival! It’s a great way to get behind the scenes and be a part of the festival magic.

The lineup for Beonix Festival is incredibly strong, with a great balance of big names and emerging talent. Here are some of my personal highlights:
- The Young Artist Garden: All of the days. A stage dedicated to showcasing the freshest talent in electronic music, with a lineup that’s sure to impress.
- Friday Highlights: Fatboy Slim(UK), Kostas Kritikos (CY) b2b RAIF (RO), Teenage Mutants(DE), Klangphonics (DE).
- Saturday Highlights: Rozina mzk (CY) b2b Dreus (CY), ANNĒ (GR), Miss Monique(UA), Artbat(UA), Estella Boersma(NL), SHDW (DE).
- Sunday Highlights: Brina Knauss(SI), Tale of Us(IT), La Rod’s (CY), Janis Zielinski (DE), Odymel(CHE), MRD (UA), Undercatt (IT), African Stevenson B2B Paradise X (CY).
Of course, this is just a small selection of the many talented artists performing. With four stages and a lineup that’s packed with talent, you’re sure to discover some new favorite artists too, so allow some unplanned space for magic to happen.
