Zombie Apocalypse is an immersive multi-genre event in the heart of St. Julian’s, that takes place the first week of November at Tigullio Clubbing Complex. The event features 5 stages and over 20 artists featuring hip hop, metal, jungle, DnB, dub, house, techno and psytrance.
The mission is to break the previous record of the largest zombie event set by us in 2022 which was 1962 zombies. To achieve this, zombie costumes are mandatory – no costume no entry.
Here’s the lowdown on the history of Zombie Apocalypse:
ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE MALTA 2022
Zombie Apocalypse 2022 broke the previous record of 2019 with 1962 zombies.
The post-apocalyptic themed event was expanded starting at 4PM and ending at 4AM. Underground Sound hosted a Zombie Recruitment Station outside of the event looking for new musical and creative talent.
Inside, heavy metal raged for the first time at Zombie Apocalypse, bringing a new crowd and further expanding the styles of what can be heard at the event.
Despite torrential rain in the late afternoon, Tigullio and its staff held it together to pull off another successful apocalypse.
ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE MALTA 2019
Zombie Apocalypse 2019 saw an even bigger turnout than the year before, of 1680 zombies at Tigullio, breaking our previous record.
Comparing to 2018, this year saw even more pandemonium including fire performances, silkline acrobatics on the main stage as well as flipped cars in the parking lot.
ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE MALTA 2018
Underground Sound spawned Malta’s first Zombie Apocalypse in the year 2018. Inspired by zombie events around the world, the island of Malta was bound for an infection and thus the first event was launched.
Held in partnership with Tigullio, the two organizations work together to put on this first of a kind event on the island with the purpose of supporting all elements of the underground music scene, regardless of genre.
The event was a resounding success with 1306 zombies involving the Trakadum group, highline acrobatic acts and a breathtaking amount of creative set design.
